Description
Astrophytum Myriostigma Cactus Seeds | Bishop’s Cap Cacti Seed
This is a popular variation of the Bishop’s Cap cactus from the highlands of Central and Northern Mexico. Elevations ranging from 750 to 1500 metres above sea level. This cactus grows with five ribs. There is also a four ribbed variety called quadricostatum.
Astrophytum myriostigma (many dots) is a spineless cactus. The plants become columnar with age. It is covered with many minute white hairy scales that give it a characteristic chalk-white or silvery-grey appearance. A transverse section of the stem reveals a perfect star shaped form giving the plant the appearance of a bishop’s mitre (hence the common name Bishop’s cap).
A. myriostigma flowers independently of day length, flowering intermittently throughout the warm months from the end of winter to the start of autumn.
