The saguaro cactus (Carnegiea gigantea) is a tree-like cactus species. It can grow to be over 40 feet (12 m) tall. It is native to Arizona, Mexico, and areas of California The saguaro blossom is the state wildflower of Arizona. Saguaros have a relatively long lifespan, often exceeding 150 years. They may grow arms but some never grow any. Saguaros grow only from seed, never from cuttings, and grow to be over 40 feet (12.2 meters) in height. Saguaros can survive a few hours of below freezing temperatures.
