Description
Coryphantha Vivipara Seeds | Native Canadian Hardy Cactus
Coryphantha vivipara also known as Escobaria vivipara is a cold-hardy cactus native to Canada and the northern Great Plains of North America. Well adapted to harsh climates, this compact species forms low, rounded stems with dense spination and produces showy pink to magenta flowers in late spring to early summer.
Highly valued by collectors and gardeners alike, Coryphantha vivipara thrives in well-draining soil and is ideal for rock gardens, alpine plantings, and outdoor cactus displays in cold climates. When established, it tolerates freezing temperatures and seasonal snow cover, making it one of the hardiest cacti available. Coryphantha Vivipara occurs in dry valleys, plains and foothills; on open, gentle to steep rocky slopes and flats, with sagebrush or conifer species and grasslands. Different varieties occur in grasslands, woodlands, mountain forests, or deserts.
These specific cold hardy cactus seeds are collected from wild Canadian plants. They will survive outdoors year round throughout much of Canada. A widespread species in Canada, occurring in Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.
