Echinocactus Grusonii var Albispinus | White Barrel Cactus
Our largest size of Barrel Cactus available. The var albispinus variety is a rarer form of the standard Golden Barrel Cactus.
Echinocactus grusonii var. albispinus looks just like a regular “golden barrel cactus” but the spines are all white instead of yellow. Flowers are vivid yellow and form a circular ring at the top of the plant. Flowers are produced from end of spring to summer only on larger mature specimens receiving enough full sun.
This cactus is known as the golden barrel cactus, golden ball. It is a well known species of cactus but difficult to find at this size.It is endemic to east-central Mexico. White barrel cactus is rare and endangered in the wild.
It prefers a warm climate but can handle temperatures down to -10 C for short periods. 12 C and up minimum.This cactus does great in Full Sun. Slow growing, solitary or clumping. Regular water in summer, little to none in the winter.
