Description
Astrophytum Caput Medusae Cactus
The Astrophytum caput-medusae is one of the rarest and most extraordinary cacti in cultivation. Unlike typical Astrophytum species, this unique variety develops long, finger-like tubercles that resemble the snakes of Medusa’s crown, giving it a striking and otherworldly appearance.
Native to northeastern Mexico, this critically rare cactus, only growing in one small location is highly prized by collectors for its unusual form, compact growth, and rarity in cultivation. Mature plants may produce stunning yellow star-shaped flowers, adding even more beauty to this already remarkable species. Its form is unlike anything else in the cactus world. Named after the mythical protectress Medusa whom had living venomous snakes in place of her hair, and could turn any being to stone just with her gaze.
