Melocactus Cactus Seed Mix

Grow one of the most distinctive and fascinating plants in the botanical world with our Melocactus Seed Mix. Known famously as the Turk’s Cap Cactus, Melocactus species are prized by plant collectors for the vibrant, red-to-pink woolly structure—called a cephalium—that develops on mature plants to produce bright flowers and seed pods. The genus consists of cactus with about 30–40 species.

They are native to the Caribbean, western Mexico through Central America to northern South America, with some species along the Andes down to southern Peru, and a concentration of species in northeastern Brazil.Mature plants are easily recognizable by their cephalium, a wool- and bristle-coated structure at the apex of the plant, containing a mass of areoles from which the small flowers grow

*Seeds are randomly mixed and do not come individually labeled.
