Geohintonia Mexicana Cactus Seeds

Discovered in 1992 in the rugged mountains of northeastern Mexico, Geohintonia mexicana is an extraordinary, slow-growing solitary cactus. Revered by enthusiasts for its striking bluish-grey hue and sharply defined, symmetrical ribs, this species is a crown jewel for specialized succulent collections.

In the wild, this plant is a strict soil specialist (gypsophile), growing exclusively on the vertical gypsum cliffs near Rayones. Because of its highly specific habitat and intense poaching by unscrupulous “collectors,” the wild population has been severely depleted. Today, Geohintonia mexicana is classified as critically endangered.

• Soil: Must be an exceptionally well-draining, gritty cactus mix (ideally mimicking its native gypsum/mineral habitat).

• Light: Bright, indirect to direct sunlight.

• Temperature: Warm conditions; protect from frost.

• Water: Minimal. Allow the substrate to dry out completely between waterings to prevent rot.

Due to the extreme scarcity of this species, authentic seeds are exceptionally rare.

Note for Growers: Raising this species from seed requires immense patience. While growth is gradual, your reward over time is a flawlessly clean, geometric specimen. Under optimal conditions, mature plants will reward you with small, delicate, pale blossoms.
