Description

Echinocereus Triglochidiatus | Frost Tolerant Cactus Seeds

Echinocereus triglochidiatus, commonly known as the Claret Cup Cactus or Kingcup Cactus, is a stunning, cold-hardy species prized for its brilliant spring blooms and rugged durability. Native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, this species forms attractive clusters of upright stems that create a striking display in any collection or outdoor rock garden.

Plants produce cylindrical, dark green stems covered in short spines that range from fine and bristly to nearly spineless depending on the form. With age, plants offset freely, forming dense clumps that can reach impressive sizes.

In late spring to early summer, mature plants are crowned with large, vivid scarlet to deep red, cup-shaped flowers that can nearly cover the entire clump. These brilliant blooms are a standout feature and a favorite among collectors and pollinators alike.
