Description
Ariocarpus Furfuraceus Cactus
A rare, slow-growing cactus valued for its compact form and textured, triangular tubercles. Native to Mexico, it has a natural stone-like appearance and produces white to pale pink flowers when mature.
A must-have for any serious cactus collection, Ariocarpus species are among the rarest and most distinctive cacti. They are extremely slow growing and valued for their unusual, sculptural form. In habitat, Ariocarpus grows in Mexico on limestone soils at elevations above 600 m.
Ariocarpus furfuraceus is recognized by its flattened, equilaterally triangular tubercles that form a compact, stone-like body. Mature plants produce elegant flowers in shades of cream-white to yellowish-white or yellow, sometimes with reddish midribs. The blooms have a soft satin sheen, measuring 3–5 cm in diameter and up to 4 cm long, and typically appear in late autumn to early winter (around October).
