Espostoa | Oreocereus Colossal Cacti
From South Bolivia & North Argentina 2900-4300 metres above sea level. It grows in very arid mountainous area where its thick hair protects it against light night frosts and from the intense sunlight found at the altitude in which it resides.
Slow growing tree shaped cactus branching at the top with age, 1,5 to 7 m tall. It is a densely hairy species, covered by a warm woolly coat and well adapted to high altitudes, the main difference is the presence of sharp spines.
The flowers are nocturnal, funnel form, nearly hidden by the wool, up to 5,5 cm long and 3,5 cm in diameter, white to purple. Flowers late spring, early summer.
All three cacti are sold with their accompanying terracotta pot.
